Playoff Pressure Mounts After Tough Home Loss to Storm
Billings Falls to 3-5 After Hard-Fought 65-56 Loss, Looks to Regroup for Final Stretch
The Billings Outlaws went toe-to-toe with the Southwest Kansas Storm on Saturday night in front of the fans at TDS Fiber Field at MetraPark, but despite a strong offensive showing, came up just short in a 65-56 loss.
It was the second meeting between the two teams this season, following a 49-31 loss on the road in Dodge City earlier this month. This time, the Outlaws brought more firepower and kept it close in a back-and-forth battle that had fans on their feet — but the Storm ultimately escaped with the win.
The game opened with a touchdown from WR Darius Prince, who continues to be a standout weapon in the offense. Kicker Dean Faithfull added a deuce early on to help keep pace. QB Malik Henry added a rushing touchdown of his own before DL Jammell Winn came up with a big QB sack to swing momentum. Prince wasn’t done — he found the end zone three more times, delivering a monster performance. WR Arthur Anderson added two touchdowns, and WR Anthony Duffy contributed one of his own to round out a potent offensive effort.
Despite the loss, the Outlaws showed grit and urgency throughout the game. With just four regular season games remaining, every snap counts moving forward.
Billings now sits at 3-5 and must finish in the top 4 in the league standings to secure a playoff spot. The road to the playoffs starts this week with another big test on the road in Salina.
